WHAT YOU’LL DO.

  • Work with clients in such industries as government, not-for-profit, financial institutions, and employee benefit plans.
  • Review client financial/tax documentation and audit workpapers.
  • Research tax, accounting and regulatory issues that arise during an audit engagement to determine client compliance with GAAP and other regulatory statutes.
  • Plan financial audits by understanding organization objectives, policies, processes, internal controls, and external regulations.
  • Identify risk areas, prepare audit scope and objectives, and prepare audit programs.
  • Participate in all phases of an audit including planning, control analysis, testing, and substantive procedures.
  • Work with senior staff to determine overall audit strategy.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for management concerning scope of audit, financial conditions found, and source and application of funds.
  • Develop ideas to assist clients with operational and control opportunities.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS.  Starting salary of $40,000 – $60,000 annually, based on your knowledge and experience. WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS THE STAFF ACCOUNTANT. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • CPA Candidates preferred; CPA license a bonus.
  • Previous experience in public accounting and/or audit a bonus, however, we will train the right individual who demonstrates a passion for our business and a desire to learn.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel) required.
  • Experience with business accounting software (i.e. QuickBooks, Sage, Thompson Reuters CS Professional Suite/UltraTax) preferred.
  • Exceptional time management skills with an ability to organize and prioritize projects and meet deadlines.

WHAT YOU’LL DO.

  • Technical review of federal and state income tax returns: corporate, partnership, individual, estates and trusts.
  • Preparation of more complex returns, including multi-state.
  • Supervision, training and career mentorship of tax preparers.
  • Respond to inquiries from various tax authorities.
  • Tax planning on a transactional and annual basis.
  • Recommend and implement efficient tax return preparation processes.
  • Research and solve complex tax issues on all aspects of taxes including income, sales, and payroll taxes using internet-based research tools, and communicate the results of that research clearly and concisely.
  • Internal consulting on tax issues for our partners.
  • Keep current on new developments in tax law/regulations and communicate

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS.  Starting salary of $65,000 – $90,000 annually, based on your knowledge and experience, plus production and profitability bonus (up to 20% of annual compensation).  In addition, we offer medical, vision, dental, 401(k) retirement plan, life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, continuing professional education, paid memberships to professional organizations along with the opportunity to advance your career to a partnership role within our company.

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL AS THE TAX MANAGER.

UPPCO seeks a Line Electrician in Munising, Michigan. In this role, you construct, operate, maintain and dismantle components of all voltages of distribution and transmission lines.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

  • Completion of a 4-year accredited or certified line electrician apprentice program and/or attained Journeyman line electrician status.

  • Possess thorough knowledge of all phases of electric distribution and transmission work procedures and safety rules, electric distribution standards, applicable state electric codes and statutes, and underground facilities and their purpose.
